The Rolling Scones
Municipality of Zoetermeer took the initiative in 2019 to establish the Community against Loneliness, based on the vision that loneliness can only be tackled together. Wijck is leading the Arts & Culture theme group. The goal of this theme group is to, together with art and culture makers, social organizations and neighborhood residents, establish cultural projects and activities in Zoetermeer that contribute to the prevention of loneliness and the promotion of Positive Health.
In the theme group Art & Culture the idea arose to give shape to the well-known concept of 'Appeltaartconcerten' in a unique and individual way in Zoetermeer. This brings art and culture to the neighborhoods of Zoetermeer and contributes to increasing the connection in the neighborhoods and the Positive Health of district residents.
The Zoetermeer version has been named The Rolling Scones and consists of musical performances while enjoying a cup of coffee/tea/warm chocolate milk and a freshly baked scone. The performances ánd scones travel/roll through the city and bring warmth, conviviality, inspiration and the opportunity for fine conversation. A working group has been formed to further develop this idea and plan and organize the concerts in 2025.
In order to introduce residents and social partners to this new initiative in Zoetermeer, a preview of The Rolling Scones will be given in the last month of the year. During 5 days there will be 9 musical performances in different neighborhoods. This will bring a festive Christmas atmosphere to the neighborhoods of Zoetermeer, especially for those people for whom the December month may not feel so festive. Neighborhood residents are invited to come out, be surprised and enjoy beautiful music, a little warmth and coziness together with other residents.
This project is a collaboration between Theaterhart, Greg & Baud Productions, Eigen Wij, Marimore Design, De Bakkerswinkel and Wijck Zoetermeer.
