Accessible polling stations in Zoetermeer

The polling stations are open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. You may choose which polling station in Zoetermeer you go to. There is always one near you. The addresses of the polling stations can be found on the back of the candidate list.

The polling stations are organized by district. This way you can quickly see which polling station is close by for you. Please note that the polling station location where you previously voted may not be used as a polling place this year.

Accessibility to polling stations

All polling stations are set up so that voters with physical disabilities can cast their votes independently as much as possible. The overview of polling stations indicates whether these locations are partially or fully accessible to them. The polling stations are accessible according to the government guidelines.

  • Handicapped parking is available at all polling places.
  • The municipality will provide proper thresholds and door wedges where needed.
  • For visually impaired voters, all polling stations are equipped with reading magnifiers. City Hall polling station also has additional aids for this group of voters (a so-called voting template, sound box and a candidate list in Braille).

The municipality is doing its best to improve the accessibility of polling stations, where necessary. Do you have a suggestion or complaint about the accessibility of a polling place? Please let us know. You can file a report here: Report accessibility and/or accessibility.

Voting by voters with physical disabilities

Voters whose physical conditions prevent them from voting in the voting booth by themselves may receive assistance. Examples include visually impaired or blind voters or people with Parkinson's disease. These voters may receive assistance in filling out the ballot paper in the voting booth from an employee of the polling station or someone of their own choosing.

Voting by visually impaired voters

In all polling stations in Zoetermeer you can use a magnifying glass. At the City Hall polling station, entrance platform RandstadRail, we have extra aids so that voters with visual impairments can vote independently.

  • We installed tactile guide lines on the floor. These lines show the way to the table with the polling staff, the voting booth and the ballot box.
  • We use a voting template and soundbox (audio support) in a voting booth at this polling station. From the soundbox, a voice reads out the parties and candidates. This voice also explains how to fill in the ballot paper with the mold that lies over it. The mold is a wooden casing that surrounds the ballot paper. Through holes in the mold, you can color in the correct ball on the ballot. For more explanation, watch the video Voting with a ballot mold.
  • We don't forget assistance dogs either. Water bowls are available for them.

The polling officials present can help you anytime you want. Voters without disabilities can also vote at the polling station in City Hall.
