Benefits affair: Growing up as a duped child
In our latest episode of The OMG Money Talks Podcast, we have Genaira as our guest. She was duped as a child by the benefits affair.
Genaira was about 10 years old when everything changed at home. Debts turned out to be huge and the stress in the house was felt daily. Sometimes she had to get through the day on two slices of bread. She had a particularly hard time in high school due to poverty, shame and bullying.
Only later did Genaira discover that her situation stemmed from the allowance affair. The pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place. She took back control of her life and grew into the powerful, positive woman we are privileged to know today.
Genaira was our guest on the podcast and is committed to helping other victims. She gives them a platform to share their stories so that young people feel less alone, less ashamed and can inspire and empower each other.
