Elections, authorise another person
Can't come to the polling station yourself? Then you can authorise someone else to cast your vote. This means that you let someone else vote for you.
- You may choose whom you authorise.
- This person must also vote for themselves at the same time.
- This person may vote for up to 2 other people.
- The authorized person must cast these votes at the same time as his/her vote.
How can you authorise someone?
You can authorise someone in 2 ways:
Authorise via voting pass (private authorization)
- This is only possible if the person you want to authorise lives in the same municipality.
- On the back of your voting pass, enter the information.
- You and the person who will vote for you both sign.
- You give the authorised person a copy or digital photo of your valid ID.
- Note! The authorised person must cast your vote at the same time as his/her own vote. An authorised person may act as a proxy for a maximum of 2 other persons.
You changed your mind and want to vote yourself?
Do you still want to vote yourself? You can revoke the private authorisation at any time. Bring your own voting pass and proof of identity to the polling station.
Authorise via written power of attorney
You can request the written authorisation in two ways:
By mail:
- Complete the Request for Proxy Voting (Model L8) form (pdf).
- You and the person you authorise sign the form.
Send the form to:

The form must be received by the municipality no later than Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon.

In previous elections, there have been cases where residents did not receive their online election documents, such as voting pass or authorisation forms, in time by mail. Although most mail is delivered correctly, there is still a risk of delay or loss. We therefore advise you to submit your application in time.
You changed your mind and want to vote yourself?
Once you have issued a written authorisation, you cannot revoke it. This means that you can no longer vote yourseld for of the members of the municipal council.
