Vernède Park and Paltelaan area vision.

The municipality is going to create an environmental program (/area vision) for Mayor Vernède Park and Paltel Avenue. This is a plan that states what the area may look like in the future. You can have a say in this.

Zoetermeer 2040

The Zoetermeer 2040 vision outlines a future vision for Zoetermeer. In 2040, Zoetermeer stands out in the region as the "city in and between the parks. Vernède Park is valuable as a park to be preserved. Because the greenery is outdated and sports clubs want to invest, the municipality will improve the park. There is a great need for new housing in our city. Therefore we are also looking if and where housing is possible. On the Paltelaan there is an empty site and space will become available when swimming pool De Driesprong will be demolished. The plan also looks at what can happen with the office building at Eerste Stationsstraat 185 and what would be a good place for a new sports hall.

How big is the area?

On this map you can see which area the municipality is planning for.

Collaborate

Over the past few months there have been meetings, walks, discussion tables and a survey in which everyone has been able to participate. All reports can be found at the bottom of this page under "Documents. It has given the municipality a lot of insight into what you think is important for the future of the area. On May 22, 2024 the municipality presented how all given ideas, wishes and tasks have been incorporated into 3 variants of an area vision for the Vernède Park and Paltelaan area. With the reactions during this meeting and the reactions via Doemee, a preferred variant has been worked on.

On Sept. 24, 2024, the preferred variant was presented at the closing meeting. The developer presented 2 urban planning models for the Eerste Stationsstraat 185. You could comment on the models for the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 this evening.

Continued

The area vision is officially called an environment program. Starting Sept. 24, 2024, the preferred variant will be processed into an environmental program. Once it is ready, the environmental program will be put online. For six weeks, anyone can react to the draft environmental program by submitting their views. After that, the council will make a final decision on the environmental program. The environmental program must then be adopted by both the college and the council.

The area vision (the environmental program) gives an outline of the area, i.e. which function (green, sports, working, living and the like) will go where. The precise interpretation of these functions will come next in a further elaboration. This elaboration (implementation agenda) will start after the board has adopted the area vision (the environment program).

The follow-up for the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 site is as follows. With the responses from the Sept. 24, 2024 meeting, the developer will develop a preferred model. This will be shown at a subsequent meeting on Eerste Stationsstraat 185.
