Four winners of 'My Zoetermeer favorite spot' photo contest

The photo contest "My Zoetermeer Favorite Place" produced four winners. During a festive gathering on Thursday evening, Oct. 24, the prize-winning photographers and their work were put in the spotlight.

Zoetermeer through the eyes of its residents

What typifies Zoetermeer according to its residents? Zoetermeer is a city full of special places. Residents of all ages were invited to capture their favorite place on film by participating in a photo contest. The photo contest had three categories: Come to Rest, Come to Action and Your City, complemented by a special audience prize for the photo with the most likes on social media. From green parks to iconic cityscapes, the participating photos beautifully captured the unique character of Zoetermeer.

Four winners

The jury, led by Alderman Jan Iedema and professional photographer Sier Linthout of Foto Linthout, had the difficult task of selecting the winners from the many entries. In the end, the following winners were declared:

Come to rest: Saskia van Wissen with an enchanting photo of the sunrise from the twelfth floor in Meerzicht over the Stadshart and Zoetermeer.
Come into action: Arjan Bulthuis who perfectly captured the fun and energy of a surfer with SnowWorld in the background.
Your city: Peter Byzdra for photographing the Zoetermeer polder overlooking the city.
Audience Award: Arthur Winailan, with the most likes on his photo of the Burgemeester Waaijerbrug.

The winners received a well-filled goodie bag from Alderman Iedema, containing a VVV voucher worth €100. In addition, their photos will be given a special place in the Pop-Up Expo 'Ons Zoetermeer', where they can be admired through November. Subsequently, the photos will be on display at the entrance to the Zoetermeer Library in December and will hang at the CKC in January. The winners of the second and third prizes will also have a place in this traveling exhibition.

Diversity of the city

With this photo contest, Zoetermeer is portraying the diversity of the city. The photos show how our city is a place to unwind, take action and experience the city in different ways. Want to see the winning photos for yourself? Then visit the Pop-Up Expo in Zoetermeer.
