How do you make an application?
As of August 1, 2025, you will find an online form to submit your request at www.zoetermeer.nl/bomen under the heading "Request for Neighborhood Green Measures. You can choose to prune, replace or add a tree.
What requirements must a request meet?
The request must meet the requirements below or the request cannot be considered:
Requirements for pruning or replacement
- Your contact information must be completed
- The tree(s) for which you are requesting pruning or replacement must fall under the category of "neighborhood green trees.
- The tree must be near your home (about 25 meters).
Requirements for adding a tree
- Your contact information must be completed
- When placing a tree, the municipality checks whether the subsoil is suitable for this purpose. Should there be cables and pipes in the subsoil, a request may be rejected on this basis.
What are neighborhood green trees?
Neighborhood green trees are trees that fall within the neighborhood green category. As of Aug. 1, you can find a map showing neighborhood green trees at www.zoetermeer.nl/bomen.
How do I indicate in the online form which tree I want pruned/replaced?
On the web page coming online on Aug. 1, you will find a map showing all neighborhood green trees. When submitting a request, provide one or more tree numbers found on this map.
How do I specify the location at which I want to add a tree?
In the online form, you can name the location and add a photo of the location.
How does the Zoetermeer municipality determine which 30 requests will be chosen?
For 2025: Between August 1 and October 1, requests will be collected and a draw will determine the order. We will start this year with the first 30 requests.
Requests submitted after Oct. 1 will be added to the list in order of receipt.
Why a draw?
More than 30 requests are expected to be received this year. To give everyone an equal chance, the Zoetermeer municipality is holding a draw.
How does the municipality of Zoetermeer know who I am?
You fill in your personal information on the application form.
What if there are multiple requests for one neighborhood green tree?
Multiple requests for the same tree count as one request.
Why are applications submitted in August not processed until Oct. 1?
This gives all residents of Zoetermeer ample time to submit a request. From October 1, 2025, a draw will be held to determine which 30 requests will be considered.
How long does the request process take?
The whole process from request to execution consists of 2 parts:
- The process from drawing lots to conducting the resident survey takes about 8 weeks.
- If a request is carried out, we look at which period is most suitable for this. This depends, among other things, on the time of year and whether the street or neighborhood has a project taking place at this location.
