Experience Zoetermeer from above? You can do just that during the Roof Festival! Climb along to great heights, discover surprising places and enjoy music, art and culture on the city's most special rooftops. This year the Roof Festival is extra festive: not just one day of celebration, but a whole week long!
Festive launch of the Rooftop Festival
The kickoff of the Rooftop Festival is on Saturday, August 23, and begins festively with a parade through downtown Zoetermeer. From 11:00 to 12:00, the parade will march from Stadhuisplein towards Festival roof P9, where the party really gets going. The theme of the parade is Cute hats and umbrellas: a perfect opportunity to shine with your original rooftop look.
Are you coming by public transportation? Then make use of the HTM RandstadRail. Get off at the Stadhuis stop and you're right in the middle of the festival area. Everything is within walking distance: from the Festival Roof and the exhibition Het Dak Op! to climbing the Oldest Roof (Oude Kerk, Dorpsstraat 59) and the colorful Vierkleurendak at Stadhuisplein (Stadhuisplein 1). After the parade? Then, of course, we go up on the roof!
From roof to roof
This year Festival roof P9 is the vibrant centerpiece and not for nothing renamed The Coziest Roof. On this roof you dive into a world of workshops, performances, art, cozy greenery and activities for young and old. This is where it all happens! But it doesn't stop here. During the Roof Festival you will discover one roof after another. Explore this versatile festival and experience each roof in a different way.
- The Cozy Roof (Festival Roof P9) - the beating heart of the festival.
- The Highest Roof - climb SnowWorld and enjoy the view at The Almhütte.
- The Oldest Roof - theater on the ancient roof of the Old Church.
- The Roof On Level - Experience the exhibit "The Roof On!" at the Main Library, high above the City Heart.
All activities are free, but advance registration is required for several workshops, nature readings, film screenings and tower and rooftop visits! For example, consider climbing the tower of the Old ChurchDorpsstraat 59) or visiting the Four Colors Roof.
Also for the nature lecture The Bee Balcony on Saturday and the outdoor cinema on Monday night, it is nice if you sign up in advance. On Saturday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be the Green Inspiration Market featuring local vegetables, plants and workshops. Would you like to participate? Then sign up!
