Zoetermeer seeks Cyber Agents (ages 8 to 12)

The municipality of Zoetermeer, together with the police, is calling on children aged 8 to 12 to become Cyber Agents of Zoetermeer. Cyber Agents learn how to protect themselves and those around them from online risks.

Friday, Nov. 15, Mayor Michel Bezuijen officially kicked off the search for Cyber Agents at IKC De Buytenkans in the Buytenwegh neighborhood.

Together with the students, the mayor watched the premiere of the appeal video in which the mayor, children's mayor and the police make an appeal to Zoetermeer children between the ages of 8 and 12 to play HackShield, a cybersecurity game. The children then received a guest lesson on cybersecurity.

Hackshield

Children are increasingly online. They play games, app and spend a lot of time on social media. They are often unaware of the dangers they face online. That makes them vulnerable to hackers and other online criminals. By playing the game HackShield, children complete various missions and challenges that deal with cyber security. In doing so, they earn the title of Cyber Agent. With the knowledge children gain while playing the game, they can also teach parents, grandparents and others how to use the Internet safely.

Inauguration at City Hall

Whoever plays the game the best, gaining the most points, will be honored at City Hall and earn a nice prize.
