Zoetermeer is looking for new City Poet!
Municipality of Zoetermeer is looking with Bureau Citymarketing for a new City Poet. The role of City Poet is a unique opportunity for Zoetermeer residents to perform their language art and translate the sound of the city. Every Zoetermeer resident aged 16 and older may apply to become the new City Poet.
The current City Poet, Robbert Roos, after many wonderful poetic years, has decided to hand over his role as City Poet to an inspired successor. Whether using poetry, spoken word, rap or any other textual form of expression, the City Poet has all the creative freedom to translate Zoetermeer in new ways.
Ambassador
The City Poet is the ambassador for language arts in Zoetermeer. As City Poet, you connect with the residents of Zoetermeer by putting your words in the spotlight and bringing attention to the city in an appealing and accessible way. The City Poet also has a unique opportunity to comment, solicited and unsolicited, on local current events.
The City Poet is asked by the municipality five times a year to present a word art. Events for which the City Poet may be asked include the May 4 commemoration and World Lights Day.
The City Poet is appointed for a period of four years. A new selection procedure will follow. The City Poet receives a compensation of €1000 per year.
Selection
To find the new City Poet, Zoetermeer City Council and Bureau Citymarketing are organizing an open application process. A selection will be made on the basis of the entries. On Wednesday evening, November 13, the nominees will have the opportunity to present themselves during a festive gathering. After consideration by the professional jury, the new city poet will be crowned. The professional jury consists of alderman Culture Wim Blansjaar, alderman Citymarketing Jan Iedema, writer and current city poet Robbert Roos and director of the Zoetermeer Library Marloes Middeldorp.
