The Palenstein litter brigade is committed to keeping the neighborhood clean.
Armed with litter pickers, volunteers from the Palenstein Litter Brigade took to the streets again on Wednesday, December 10. Every month, on the second Wednesday, they walk through Palenstein together to clean up litter and contribute to a cleaner living environment.
Litter remains a persistent problem. Cigarette butts in particular cause a lot of nuisance. "After fireworks debris, cigarette butts are the most polluting," says Vincent. "They are small, difficult to pick up, and harmful to the environment." "The pollution around recycling points is also a major annoyance," adds Christine.
The volunteers hope that Zoetermeer will take steps towards becoming a cleaner city in the new year. This can only be achieved through cooperation between residents and volunteers.
