Serving alcohol during event
Only catering establishments with an Alcohol License may serve alcohol. Do you want to sell alcohol at an event? Then you must apply for an exemption.
Rules when serving alcohol at an event
- A waiver is given only for events of up to 12 days (consecutive).
- You may not sell liquor (>15% alcohol).
- You may not sell alcohol to persons under the age of 18.
- The Alcohol Act states that serving alcohol must be done under the direct supervision of a manager*. This means that a supervisor must always be present at a tapping point.
- Do you want to install multiple taps? If so, you must specify more managers in your application. The municipality recommends two managers per tap point.
* Managers must meet a number of legal requirements:
- Persons are at least 21 years old.
- The individuals do not have bad living habits.
- For large events (category B or C), managers must also have a "Declaration of Social Hygiene.
Requesting a waiver
Apply for the waiver 8 weeks before (the start of) the event.
Note! You must also apply for a permit or submit a notification to organize an event.
