Serving alcohol during event

Only catering establishments with an Alcohol License may serve alcohol. Do you want to sell alcohol at an event? Then you must apply for an dispensation.

Rules when serving alcohol at an event

  • A dispensation is given only for events of up to 12 days (consecutive).
  • You may not sell liquor (>15% alcohol).
  • You may not sell alcohol to persons under the age of 18.
  • The Alcohol Act states that serving alcohol must be done under the direct supervision of a supervisor*. This means that a supervisor must always be present at a tapping point.
  • Do you want to install multiple taps? If so, you must specify more supervisors in your application. The municipality recommends two supervisors per tap point.

* Supervisors must meet a number of legal requirements:

  • Persons are at least 21 years old.
  • The individuals do not have bad living habits.
  • For large events (category B or C), supervisors must also have a "Declaration of Social Hygiene.

Apply for the dispensation 8 weeks before (the start of) the event.
