Residents Join Forces to Open the New Trefpunt Oase
After months of preparation together with residents and the Meerzicht Panel, the big day had finally arrived. On Wednesday, May 13, residents involved in the project, together with Councilwoman Véronique Frinking, opened the new community center at Kerkenbos 8 in Meerzicht. This community center has been named Trefpunt Oase. A fitting name for Meerzicht’s new living room, which residents and the Meerzicht Panel actively helped design. A place where community is at the heart of everything.
The festive opening attracted about 100 visitors. While enjoying snacks and drinks and listening to the musical accompaniment of a local Meerzichter on the saxophone, residents were able to take a look around the various rooms.
Ton Kort, a resident since the very beginning: "For years, we’ve wanted to create something special for the neighborhood’s residents. It’s fantastic to now be bringing this space to life together with a group of enthusiastic neighbors. We look forward to many wonderful moments and to meeting and connecting with people from Meerzicht."
Councilwoman Véronique Frinking:
"The building has been renovated and warmly decorated as a gathering space for and by residents. A building only comes to life when people come to it. The great interest shown during the opening has already demonstrated that a gathering place like this is truly welcome here. I am certain that this space will grow into a place where connection and community are central."
At Trefpunt Oase, residents can enjoy cozy coffee afternoons, shared meals, dancing, creative activities, and much more in the future. Opening hours and the current program can be found at www.meervoormeerzicht.nl, , and during the coffee and tea gatherings on Wednesdays between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
