Social assistance, reporting income

Do you have income in addition to your social assistance benefits? If so, this may be partially or fully offset against your benefits. You must therefore declare how much income you receive each month. This includes income from work, benefits from the UWV, or other income. If in doubt, please contact your income manager.

Report new income to us for the first time

If you are going to receive new income for the first time, you must report this online via MijnInkomen. Under the heading 'report changes', you will find forms that you can use to report this.

Once we have processed your notification, you will receive a message asking you to complete an income statement on a monthly or semi-annual basis. This is a form that we will prepare for you in MijnInkomen. You can use this form to report your income. You will need your DigiD to do this.

Income from games of chance (gambling)

A game of chance is a game whose outcome is determined purely by chance, we also call it gambling.

If you gamble, you must report it to your income director. You must keep your own records of gambling. Your income director may ask you to submit these records. Do you gamble online? Then you can log in with the income director at City Hall to provide insight into your gambling activities.

Games of chance are according to the Gaming Act:

  • Lotteries
  • Playing Store Week promotions
  • Sports Contests
  • Casino games, including poker
  • Slot Machines
  • Betting on horses
  • Scratch Cards
  • Bingo
  • Promotional games of chance (Bell games)
  • Illegal games of chance
  • Online gambling

What should you give up?

All income from gambling must be declared on your income tax return, even if you receive less than you bet. You do not have to declare your bets. This is stipulated by law.

Examples

  1. You play with € 2.00 on an (online) fruit machine. You win € 0.50. You declare € 0.50 as income.

  2. You buy a lottery ticket of € 5.00. You win € 10.00 on this lottery ticket. You declare € 10,00 as income.

  3. You play with € 3.00 on an (online) fruit machine. You win € 2.00 which you bet again for another round. After that you win € 1.00. You then declare € 3.00 as income (namely the € 2.00 + € 1.00 you won).
