City Council Proposes Investment in New Location for the National Video Game Museum
The board of mayor and aldermen that the City Council invest €1,585,489 in the new location for the National Video Game Museum (NVGM). The investment is needed to prepare the buildings at Stadhuisplein 21 and Zuidwaarts 2 for use. The City Council has yet to make a decision on the proposal.
The properties at Stadhuisplein 21 and Zuidwaarts 2 are owned by the municipality and are leased to the National Video Game Museum. To make them suitable for use, modifications are needed, such as systems for heating, ventilation, fire safety, plumbing, and security. These facilities are part of the properties. Therefore, the municipal executive proposes investing in them. The annual costs for depreciation and maintenance are covered by the rental income.
A new step for the location in the City Center
This investment will allow the buildings to be fitted out for use by the museum. This brings the establishment of the National Video Game Museum in the City Center one step closer. The new location is intended to provide the museum with the space it needs to continue growing and will help bring more vitality and visitors to the city center.
