Area vision Vernèdepark and Paltelaan

In August 2023, the municipality announced that it would create an area vision for the Burgemeester Vernèdepark and the area surrounding Paltelaan. Everyone could have their say on the future of the area. The area vision (now officially called an environmental program) also looks at what will happen to the office building on the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 can happen. What came before?

In 2021, Arthur Armstrong presented a construction plan for the site Eerste Stationsstraat 185. Local residents were able to respond to this. The documents below contain the reports of the participation process. After the participation, the conclusion was that the plan is not feasible at this location. The municipality and the initiator therefore entered into discussions about the continuation of the project. During these discussions, the municipal council gave the order to create a vision for the Vernèdepark and Paltelaan. Given that the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 directly borders the Vernèdepark, the municipality and the initiator have come to the conclusion that the redevelopment of the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 must be viewed in conjunction with the preparation of the vision for the Vernèdepark and the Paltelaan area.

What happens next?

The environmental program will contain principles and frameworks that will form the basis for a construction plan for the Eerste Stationsstraat 185 must comply. With these principles, the developer has already presented 2 urban development models on September 24, 2024 (see presentation with the documents below). After this, the developer has made a preferred model, which will be presented at a walk-in meeting on December 11, 2024.
