Event site central park
Market
Description
The Market subarea is part of the central park and is located between the historic Dorpsstraat and the modern City Heart. The Market has a central location between the 2 shopping areas and surrounding housing in the heart of the city, with a beautiful view of the water square De Dobbe.
Conversion and redevelopment
Work on the central park project began on Oct. 14, 2024. For safe traffic conditions, there will be a closed route for construction traffic to the contractor's construction site on Dobbe Island starting in early November 2024. As a result, a section of Frankrijklaan is closed and a portion of Market Square is temporarily unavailable. Central Park work will be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The Market will remain accessible via London Street during the work. The possibilities for organizing events on the Market during this period are more limited. The municipality is happy to look at the possibilities with you.
In the new situation, the layout of the Market will hardly change. Only the stairs along the water will be redesigned. There will also be a deck around the Dobbeplas.
For more information about the central park project, please visit the website: Dobbegebied - De Binnenstad In (binnenstad-zoetermeer.nl).

The organizer should encourage visitors to come by bike as much as possible and should put up temporary bike racks to prevent wild parking.

There are several parking garages around the Stadshart. Parking in the parking garages is free for the first 2 hours. Parking in the Driekant is available at municipal rates.

Dobbe Island
Description
The Dobbe Island subarea is part of the central park and is connected to the Market and Nicolas Square. The Dobbe Island is a park with a grass field and overlooks the water square De Dobbe.
Conversion and redevelopment of Dobbe Island (including Park Meadow)
On October 14, 2024, work began on the central park project. Dobbe Island will be used as a construction site during the reconstruction and, as a result, can temporarily not be used as an event site. The central park will be completed in the first quarter of 2026. In the new situation, the Dobbe Island will become more of a park with several play islands. Dobbe Island will be more connected to the Market Square.
Would you like to host an event downtown and during central park work? We would be happy to meet with you to discuss possible options and alternatives.
