Municipality of Zoetermeer Intospace Sign a Letter of Intent for Oostweg 2

The municipality of Zoetermeer and developer Intospace are set to sign a letter of intent to jointly explore the possibilities for the site at Oostweg 2. They will examine whether they can create a new development there that successfully combines residential and commercial functions. The site of the former Miss Etam headquarters and distribution center has been vacant for a long time. This step offers the site the prospect of a new future.

Intospace aims to combine residential, commercial, and logistics functions at this site. This means that new homes and workspaces will be created in a single location. Alderman Bouke Velzen (Housing): "With this letter of intent, we are taking an important step toward redeveloping this site. Together, we are exploring how residential, commercial, and logistics functions can coexist effectively here."

Expansion of the area

Intospace also wants to include the adjacent municipal lot between Oostweg 2 and the new Happy Days residential neighborhood in its plans. The municipality and Intospace believe this will result in a more cohesive whole than if the two lots were developed separately.

Lucy Loeffen, project manager at Intospace: "Today’s complex challenges call for creative solutions. By combining the ambitions of the municipality and Intospace, we see mixed-use development as the key concept for truly adding value to this location. Careful integration into the surrounding environment is central to this. We are now jointly exploring how living and working can grow not alongside each other, but together, to make the most of the available space."

Feasibility and Participation

The municipality and the developer are therefore jointly launching a feasibility study to explore the possibilities for this site and how the surrounding community will be involved. Intospace is organizing public meetings with local residents and stakeholders for this purpose. If the feasibility study yields positive results, a planning framework will be submitted to the city council for decision-making.
