Gerard Zijlstra Receives the Chapeau Award for His Role in Fostering Connections in the Cultural Sector
On Thursday, April 23, Gerard Zijlstra received the Chapeau statuette. He was awarded this municipal honor in recognition of his longstanding and exceptional dedication to the cultural sector in Zoetermeer. The presentation took place during the monthly culture gathering at the Franx art garage, where Alderman Jan Iedema (Culture) presented the statuette.
For decades, Gerard Zijlstra has been actively involved as a founder, producer, and director of various theater companies and cultural initiatives in Zoetermeer. Through his dedication, he makes a significant contribution to the city’s cultural sector.

Gerard Zijlstra has been a driving force behind various cultural initiatives in Zoetermeer for many years. As the founder and director of organizations such as the Greg & Baud Productions Foundation, Warm Water Youth Theater, the Theater Hart Foundation, and Knussebus, he has made a significant contribution to the city’s cultural scene. Under his leadership, Greg & Baud has grown into an organization where professional expertise and volunteer dedication reinforce one another.
In addition, he is actively involved in new initiatives and collaborations. For example, he is involved in the development of a cultural youth hub in Palenstein and plays a coordinating role for the Zoetermeer Choir Festival and Jong Senioren Zoetermeer.
