Heat Safety Measures During Veterans Day in Zoetermeer
Zoetermeer, June 24, 2026 – Warm weather is expected for Zoetermeer Veterans’ Day on Saturday, June 27. To ensure visitors can enjoy the day as comfortably as possible, additional amenities will be available on the Markt. For example, visitors can use water fountains, and free sunscreen will be available.
Additional amenities on the Markt
Veterans Day will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Although the hottest part of the day is expected to be over by then, temperatures may still be high in the evening. For this reason, various measures have been put in place on the Markt to support visitors. There are water stations on the Markt where visitors can fill their water bottles. Free sunscreen is also available.
Well-prepared for the trip
A large part of the program takes place on the Markt. This is an open-air venue where visitors spend much of the evening outdoors. There are a few spots on the grounds where visitors can temporarily seek shade, such as the Veterans’ Pavilion. Its capacity is limited. Visitors are therefore advised to come prepared for Veterans’ Day. Consider, for example, bringing a water bottle, a cap or hat, an umbrella for extra shade, a fan, or a handheld fan. It’s also important to drink plenty of fluids, wear light clothing, and use sunscreen.
Working Together to Ensure a Wonderful and Safe Veterans Day
The municipality looks forward to honoring the service of Dutch veterans together with veterans, their families, and other visitors. By taking weather conditions into account and looking out for one another, we can make this a wonderful and safe Veterans’ Day together. First aid services will be available on site. Visitors who are feeling unwell due to the heat or who are concerned about someone else can always go to the first aid station or speak with one of the staff members on site.
