Zoetermeer Municipality Heat Plan

What does the local heat plan say?

The heat plan describes how the municipality and its partners prepare for periods of high temperatures and how they protect residents from health risks caused by heat. The main goal is to prevent and minimize symptoms such as dehydration, overheating, and other health problems.

Collaboration with Partners in the City

The plan focuses primarily on vulnerable residents, such as the elderly, young children, and people with chronic conditions. Collaboration is key: the municipality, health and social service organizations, and other partners work together and agree on who will do what during a heat wave.

Contents of the Local Heat Action Plan

  • Preparation and early warning:
monitoring weather forecasts and issuing timely warnings
  • Heat-related measures:
, such as paying extra attention to vulnerable groups and sharing advice
  • Communication:
Inform residents about what they can do themselves (e.g., drink plenty of fluids, stay cool, look out for one another)
  • Cooperation and Agreements:
Clear division of roles among the organizations involved

In this way, the heat plan ensures that everyone is better prepared for extremely hot days and that health risks are prevented as much as possible.
