Children from Buytenwegh and Palenstein wanted for the 'Move the City' dance project
After the May break, “Move the City” will kick off in six neighborhoods in Zoetermeer: a unique dance project for children ages 7 to 12. Over the course of six classes, they will work toward a joint finale in the theater at CKC & partners.
What makes this project special is the combination of movement and creativity. The children are actively engaged while simultaneously developing their self-expression and self-confidence. Under the guidance of professional dance instructors, they are introduced to a dance style that suits them: jazz (Kim), Afro dance (Santosh), or urban pop (Lani).
During the classes, a choreography takes shape step by step. The children learn to work together, gain the confidence to express themselves more, and experience what it’s like to work toward a goal. Each neighborhood group concludes the series with its own performance, after which all participants come together for the finale.
In the CKC & Partners theater, the various groups come together for the Dance Battle: an energetic finale where everything comes together. For many children, this is their first experience performing on a professional stage.
