A city employee at the door

In the coming weeks, municipal employees working on behalf of the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) will be conducting home visits in Zoetermeer. This means that a municipal employee may come to your door.

Why would an employee come to your door?

The BRP is a database containing personal data on individuals residing in the Netherlands. It is important that the data in the BRP remains as complete and reliable as possible. For this reason, the municipality conducts on-site visits in certain cases. These visits may involve, for example, performing quality checks, verifying registrations in the BRP, and conducting address investigations. Residents are not informed in advance so that the situation can be assessed as accurately as possible.

Unwanted visitor at the door

Recently, there has been an increase in Zoetermeer of people going door-to-door who claim to be municipal employees but are not. It is therefore wise to always verify who you are actually dealing with.

How to recognize a city employee

You can recognize a municipal employee by their official uniform bearing the municipal logo, or by the municipality’s official vehicles.

Are you unsure?

If so, ask to see identification and call the municipality at 14 079 to verify, or report it to the Zoetermeer Police at 0800-8844.
