National Sports Week: Discover Which Sport Is Right for You
Zoetermeer, September 11, 2026 – From pickleball and martial arts to skating and an obstacle course: during National Sports Week, residents of Zoetermeer can try out all kinds of sports and activities for free. From September 18 through 27, sports clubs will open their doors, and the municipality will organize various activities for people of all ages.
During National Sports Week, the city, sports clubs, and schools will showcase the many opportunities for sports and physical activity in Zoetermeer. Residents can easily try out different sports and discover for themselves what suits them best. The week kicks off with the exciting game “Hunted,” in which 100 young people ages 12 through 16 will spend two hours trying to evade police officers and law enforcement agents.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to get active later in the week. The schedule includes an obstacle run, a skate tour, and a sports festival, among other events. During the sports festival, residents can try out various sports for free, such as pickleball, dance, and martial arts. There will also be demonstrations and a sports fair.
Councilmember Jordy Boerboom: “Sports bring people together. You see that every day at our clubs, in the gyms, and just out in the neighborhood. National Sports Week is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved, try something new, and, above all, experience just how much fun being active can be. I hope that Sports Week gives many Zoetermeerders just that little push they need to get moving—and maybe even discover a new passion.”
