New art bench in Palenstein
You may have seen them before: the social sofas in Palenstein. Those colorful benches where you can sit down for a moment, have a chat, and get to know someone from the neighborhood.
With the renovation of Palenstein, this bench couldn’t be left behind, of course. Time to strip away the four layers of old paint and give it a fresh new look! Artist Tobias from Urban Art Studio got to work, but not without some help. In fact, the 8th-grade class at IKC De Kasteeltuyn played a key role in the design.
Tobias visited the class and had the children draw their own ideas. He used all that creative input to create three designs. When he returned to help them choose, something wonderful happened: one design was immediately ruled out, but the other two received exactly the same number of votes. The solution? Just combine them!
You can now see the result on the social sofa. A design that, according to the 8th-grade students, truly embodies the spirit of Palenstein: full of diversity, warmth, and connection. A place where being together, playing, and sports take center stage.
So, are you just walking by? Why not take a seat? Chances are you’ll get exactly what they’re trying to show you.
