City Council Appoints New Aldermen

Zoetermeer, Friday, June 26 — The municipality of Zoetermeer has a new municipal executive. On June 25, 2026, the city council appointed Margot Kraneveldt (PRO), Lisette Sandifort (VVD), Anne-Lise Olsthoorn (D66), Véronique Frinking (CDA), Jordy Boerboom (PRO), and Jeffrey van Gils (VVD) as full-time aldermen. Hilko Folkeringa (D66) has been appointed as a part-time alderman.

New Council Members

The appointment and swearing-in of the new aldermen took place following a debate on the Zoetermeer 2026–2030 coalition agreement, “Coming Home to Zoetermeer. Noticeably Better.” Because four council members were appointed to alderman positions, four new council members were also sworn in: Robin Fries (VVD), Walter van Harmelen (VVD), Yuri Nikerk (PRO), and Sebastiaan de Groot (CDA).

Farewell

This evening, the council also bid farewell to the three outgoing aldermen: Jan Iedema, Bouke van Velzen, and Marijke van der Meer. The latter will not be leaving entirely, but will return to the city council on behalf of Zó! Zoetermeer. There was also a word of thanks for the outgoing committee members:
