Response from the Municipal Executive to the departure of Ronald Weerwag
During the council meeting on February 23, 2026, Ronald Weerwag submitted his resignation as alderman. As a council, we respect his decision. The past period has been intense for many.
We would like to thank Ronald Weerwag for his dedication to Zoetermeer. Strengthening cooperation with housing associations and tenants' associations, adding extra floors to buildings, making better use of the existing city, and 'waking up' Edisonpark are good examples of this. We wish him every success for the future.
The council considers it paramount that civil servants perform their duties under the responsibility of the administration and do not participate in public political debate. Political responsibility lies with the council.
As soon as the new portfolio distribution is known, it will be communicated to the municipal council.
