Do you regularly travel on the N209? Starting in late August, expect road closures and allow for extra travel time
Starting this coming weekend, the province of South Holland will begin work on the N209. The road’s asphalt will be replaced to maintain traffic safety and accessibility. The work will take place in August and September 2026 and will result in road closures and traffic disruptions.
The work will be carried out in several phases
As a result, the N209 will be partially closed to through traffic at various times:
- Weekend closures between late August and early September
- Evening and nighttime closures from August 31 through September 4
- An extended closure from Monday, September 7, through Sunday, September 27, between the A16 near Bergschenhoek and the intersection with Groendalseweg
Impact on traffic to and from Zoetermeer
The N209 is a major route for traffic between Zoetermeer, Lansingerland, and Rotterdam. Road users should therefore expect detours and allow for extra travel time. Through traffic will be rerouted via the N470 and N471. Homes and businesses along the route will remain accessible.
Check your route in advance and be prepared for delays
Will you be traveling to Rotterdam, Lansingerland, or surrounding municipalities in the coming weeks? You might want to consider taking a different route or traveling by bike or public transportation.
