Nature Garden Walking Tour on Sunday, June 28, 2026

This coming Sunday, you can once again join the monthly guided walk through the Nature Garden.

There, as spring turns to summer, you can see plants in full bloom. The guide will lead you past various spots. You might easily walk right past the purple-blue flowering great glidkruid along the shady forest edge. That would be a shame, because it’s quite rare.  The bald jonker, on the other hand, is impossible to miss, but despite its somewhat mocking name, it’s a remarkable sight and blooms beautifully.

You’ll also learn about other unique features of the Nature Garden, such as the insect mounds, the small windmills near the polder, the osier bed, and a revitalized shore of the peat lake. The landscapes give a sense of what the area around Zoetermeer looked like in days gone by.

The guided tour lasts just over an hour; participation is free. The walk begins at 2:00 p.m. at the picnic table across from the new Westpunt. (Enter Westerpark via Turfberg near No. 1; follow the signs for Natuurtuin / Westpunt).

The guided tour is not well-suited for wheelchair users. They can visit part of the Nature Garden through a separate entrance.
Dogs are not allowed in the garden.
