Do you own a municipal monument in Zoetermeer? If so, you can apply for a subsidy for standard maintenance or research into a different use.

How it works

You can get a subsidy for a municipal monument for 50% of the cost of maintenance, with a maximum of € 5,000 per 2 years. A total budget of € 79,000 is available in 2024. Giving the subsidy is done in order of receipt of the (complete) applications.

You can apply for grants for:

The cost of maintenance

This includes:

  • The part of the cost (including VAT) that deals with the maintenance of the monument. This can be maintenance on the facades or roof. This can also be maintenance on parts that determine the monumental value of the monument, such as decorative facade parts, interior parts and sidewalks.
  • The cost of architect and structural engineer or the cost of supervision related to maintenance work (including VAT).
  • The cost of unexpected maintenance work that emerges during scheduled maintenance. The problem must be reported to Team Heritage within two weeks of being noticed.

This does not include:

  • Cost of changes to the monument, including installing insulation, double glazing or new installations.
  • Costs for which grants have been applied for or received in another way.
  • Costs covered by insurance.
  • Costs for maintenance of parts of the municipal monument where subsidies have already been given in the last five years.

Investigation of another use for the building, without a residential function

This includes:

  • Conducting a building archaeological survey (including VAT) for research into a different use. This research must be carried out according to the'Guidelines for building archaeological research' of the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed.
  • Carrying out a survey of the structural defects (including VAT), according to NEN 2767 and obtaining insight into the costs of the repair work necessary to bring the monument to a good structural condition.

When will the grant be given?

The grant is given if:

  • The environmental permit is granted, if the activities require a permit.
  • The activities for which a grant is sought have not yet been carried out.
  • With the activities the level of monumental value benefits.
  • The maximum grant amount of €5,000 for the monument was not given last year.

What you need

The following information is required with the application:

  • Proof of ownership, leasehold or holder of the right of superficies. This can be through a certified recent extract from the land register.
  • A statement of work (written explanation of what will be performed) or specifications.
  • A budget itemized by activity, hours and materials.
