Veterans Day 2026 in Zoetermeer Canceled

Zoetermeer, June 26, 2026 – Zoetermeer Veterans’ Day, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, has been canceled. The municipality has decided to cancel the event due to the expected extreme heat. The KNMI has issued a Code Red warning for Friday. Very high temperatures are also expected on Saturday.

On the advice of the Haaglanden Safety Region, based in part on the KNMI’s weather forecasts and the heat warnings that have been issued, it has been decided to cancel the event. Under these weather conditions, prolonged outdoor activities are not recommended.

The safety of everyone involved was the top priority in making this decision. This applies not only to visitors and participants, but also to the many people who contribute to setting up and running the event, such as suppliers, tent erectors, volunteers, traffic controllers, and emergency services.

Mayor Bezuijen: “This is a difficult decision. We know that many veterans look forward to this day every year and that many of those involved have been preparing for it with great dedication in recent weeks. It is disappointing that the event cannot take place, precisely because we wanted to honor our veterans in a special way and thank them for their service. At the same time, we cannot ignore the risks posed by the expected extreme heat. The safety of visitors, participants, volunteers, and staff always comes first.”
