RSS news feeds

What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS allows you to get an automatic alert when an article is added on our website.

To view the posts, you will need an RSS reader (see below). With the RSS reader and RSS feeds, you can immediately see if new information has appeared on the site.

Why is RSS useful?

RSS can take a lot of work off your hands. For example, if you visit a large number of regular websites daily, each with their own information, you have to visit all these sites separately. You have to look up the site, see if there is news for you, and then move on to the next site. With RSS, you get a notification every time something new of your interest is posted. Searching yourself is (almost) no longer necessary.

What do you need?

First of all, an RSS reader. There are a variety of RSS readers. Some are free, for some you have to pay. One free RSS reader, for example, is Feedreader. You can download this program from the Web site www.feedreader.com. Another free reader is SharpReader, found at www.sharpreader.net.

After you have downloaded and installed the program, you can add a new RSS feed via 'File, New, New Feed'. In the window that then appears, enter the url of the RSS feed and click 'Next'. You can then specify a name for the feed. If you then click Finish, the RSS feed will be added to your RSS reader.

Many mail programs (Outlook, for example) also have capabilities to retrieve RSS feeds.

You can often recognize the RSS feeds on our website by an RSS logo at the bottom of the page just above the footer:
