Zoetermeer is working to create a safe Night Network for cyclists
Municipality of Zoetermeer invest in safe nighttime cycling routes. A network of well-lit bike paths helps cyclists travel safely between key destinations in Zoetermeer in the evening and at night. We call this network the Nachtnet fiets.
Improvements
In recent years, a large portion of the lighting along the Nachtnet has been replaced with energy-efficient LED lights. These lights are less prone to malfunctions and thus contribute to safety. In addition, the bicycle tunnels are receiving special attention. In the coming period, the lighting there will also be updated and better coordinated with the lighting outside the tunnels.
Major destinations
The Night Network for cyclists connects neighborhoods to the city center and other neighborhoods via main bike paths. This means that every neighborhood has a well-lit bike path to start from and ride along. The routes are marked on the map with a red dashed line.
