Zoetermeer’s heritage to be showcased at the City Hall Forum
Alderman Jan Iedema will open the new heritage display cases at City Hall on Tuesday, June 9, at 3:30 p.m. Display cases will be installed on the ground floor of the City Hall Forum to showcase Zoetermeer’s heritage and history to residents and visitors. The display cases will feature objects related to themes connected to Zoetermeer, such as industry, growth, modernization, governance, the history of butter and dairy, and the Floriade.
In December 2024, the city council adopted the motion titled “Making Zoetermeer’s Heritage Visible Quickly.” With this motion, the council asked the executive board to display Zoetermeer’s heritage at a public and well-visited location in anticipation of the future Heritage House.
The new display cases complement the existing art display case in the City Hall Forum. By showcasing heritage in this way, the city aims to foster an open and welcoming atmosphere at City Hall, raise awareness of Zoetermeer’s identity and history, and make more attractive use of the public space in the City Hall Forum.
