Zoetermeer’s heritage will be prominently displayed in the City Hall Forum
Zoetermeer’s heritage is getting a new home in the City Hall Forum. On Tuesday, June 9, Alderman Jan Iedema unveiled the new heritage display cases on the ground floor of City Hall. These display cases showcase objects that tell the story of Zoetermeer’s history and development.
About the heritage display cases
The display cases feature a variety of objects related to key themes in the history of Zoetermeer. Visitors can explore artifacts and stories about topics such as industry, growth and modernization, local government, the history of butter and dairy, and the Floriade. The exhibits illustrate how Zoetermeer has evolved from a village into a city over the years.
Heritage accessible to everyone
The new display cases complement the existing art display case in the City Hall Forum and help make the public space more attractive. By presenting heritage in an accessible location, the municipality aims to help residents and visitors become more familiar with the identity, history, and stories of Zoetermeer. Alderman Jan Iedema: “The City Hall Forum is a place where many people come every day. It’s wonderful that they can learn about Zoetermeer’s heritage here in an accessible way.”
