Garbage fee is a tax for households where the municipality is required to collect garbage. The number of people registered at your address determines how much you have to pay.

The municipality collects garbage every week. Even if you do not use the garbage collection service, you must pay waste collection fees.

What you need to know

All households in Zoetermeer pay waste disposal charges. Do you live with several people at one address? Then the assessment is in the name of the oldest resident or the person who has been registered at the address the longest.

Do you own a house, building or plot of land in Zoetermeer on January 1? Then you pay waste disposal charges for the whole year. Do you acquire a house, building or plot of land in Zoetermeer later in the year? Then you pay the number of full calendar months from the date of registration in Zoetermeer. For example, if you move to Zoetermeer on October 15, you pay waste disposal charges starting in November of that year.

Do you register after January 1 at an address where someone already lives who pays taxes, such as if you move in with someone? Then no amended assessment will be sent that year. The following year, however, you will receive an amended assessment. Because the number of people registered at the address on January 1 will change, the assessment will also change.

Authorization for direct debit

You can issue a direct debit authorization if the amount of the assessment is under €20,000. You can arrange the authorization in MijnBelastingen.

Objecting

Do you believe the assessment is incorrect? Then you can lodge an objection via MijnBelastingen.

The objection must be received by us within 6 weeks from the date of the assessment notice. You will receive a confirmation within 5 working days.

Waiver

Do you have a low income? Then you may be able to apply for remission. For Can you not pay the tax because you have a low income and few assets (money and property)? Then you can apply for a remission. x

Do you no longer have the e-mail? Then call 14 079. A staff member can change or cancel the appointment for you.
