Scattering ashes
- After cremation, the ashes of the deceased are collected in an ash container.
- This ash container will remain in the general niche of the crematorium for one month.
- During this month, you will decide what you want to do with the ashes.
In Zoetermeer, you can scatter ashes at the scattering field or in the ash scattering bowl at the Hoflaan cemetery. After scattering, a plaque can be placed on one of the memorial pillars.
For more information, visit the Meerbloemhof Crematorium website .
You can also scatter ashes in your own garden, a forest, from a boat or from an airplane. Keep in mind that by law, if you want to scatter ashes anywhere, you need permission from the owner of the land. In the municipality of Zoetermeer, you may scatter ashes anywhere on public land. Make sure that the scattering does not inconvenience others.
