Campaign Against Drug-Related Crime in Residential Neighborhoods
Municipality of Zoetermeer and Report Crime Anonymously have launched a campaign to keep drug-related crime out of residential neighborhoods. Drug production can create life-threatening situations in residential neighborhoods. For example, garage units or commercial spaces may be misused as drug labs. Residents are not always aware of the risks or know how to recognize the warning signs.
Mayor Michel Bezuijen: "Drug-related crime has no place in our neighborhoods. By staying alert and reporting suspicious situations, residents help keep their neighborhoods safe and livable."
Do you recognize these signs?
When drugs are being manufactured, certain things in the surrounding area often stand out. For example, look out for:
- A strong chemical or strange odor.
- Unfamiliar vehicles are frequently coming and going.
- Construction, drilling, or hauling work at unusual times.
- Windows and doors that have been taped shut or permanently closed.
- Prominent ventilation or exhaust systems.
- Suspicious activity in garage units, sheds, or other buildings.
Seeing one of these signs does not automatically mean that a crime has been committed, but multiple signs together may be grounds for filing a report.
