Handicapped parking
A disabled parking space is a parking space for people with physical disabilities. Other drivers are not allowed to park their cars here.
You can request a private disabled parking space near your home from the municipality. You will then be given a reserved parking space where only the vehicle with your license plate may park.
On-site parking
Can you park on your own property? For example, on a driveway, in a garage or under a carport? Then you cannot apply for a disabled parking space.
What you need to know
Research
Are you applying for a disabled parking space? Then the municipality starts an investigation.
- The examination is done by a staff member of the Wmo department.
- The study will be completed within 6 weeks.
- The staff member will contact you to schedule an appointment.
- The interview will take place at City Hall, by phone or at your home.
- For the interview you will need:
- Your medical records, such as a statement from your doctor or specialist.
- A list of the medications you are taking.
- The employee may request additional examination by a medical specialist. (In this case, the examination may take longer than 6 weeks).
Are you applying for disabled parking but do not drive a car yourself?
- Then the health of your regular caregiver driving the car will also be considered.
- The driver of the car must be present during the interview.
You are a driver (you drive the car yourself)
Whether you are entitled to handicap parking depends on how poorly you can walk.
- Can you walk less than 50 meters independently? Then you usually get a parking space near your home if:
- You cannot park on your own property.
- There is no parking near your home.
- Parking pressure is high.
- Can you walk more than 50 meters but less than 200 meters independently? Then you will only get a parking space if the parking pressure around your home is high. For this we do a parking survey.
- Can you walk more than 200 meters independently? Then you will not receive a parking space.
You are a passenger (you do not drive the car yourself)
We will first see if it is possible to double park at your home for a short time. You can then get out and be taken home after which your caregiver can park the car somewhere else. The health of your caregiver is also important here and will also be examined.
A handicapped parking space in the center
In the downtown paid parking area, parking space is limited. Arrangements have been made with the owner of the parking garages to provide parking spaces for the disabled.

A disability to your eyes
Do you only have a disability to your eyes and no limitation with walking? If so, you will not be given a disabled parking space.

- Vehicle registration certificate.
- As the applicant, are you also the driver? If so, please also submit a copy of your driver's license.

Change or delete appointment?
Once you have made an appointment you will receive a confirmation e-mail. This e-mail also contains a link that allows you to change or delete your appointment.
Do you no longer have the e-mail? Call 14 079. A staff member can change or delete the appointment for you.
Change your license plate number
Do you have a handicapped parking space and are changing cars? Then the license plate number associated with the parking space must be changed.
This application will take approximately 8 weeks to process. For that period, you can apply for a temporary parking permit (see information below). You can then continue to use your parking space.

- Vehicle registration certificate.
- As the applicant, are you also the driver? If so, please also submit a copy of your driver's license.
Requesting a temporary parking ticket (when changing from the old to the new license plate or for replacement transportation)
- Make an appointment Parking facility request.
- Bring to the appointment a copy of the new registration certificate.
- You will receive the temporary card immediately, with it you can park in your parking space until the license plate number on the sign at the parking lot is updated.
Replacement transportation
Do you need (temporary) replacement transportation due to circumstances? If so, you can get an emergency card. To do so, call 14 079 and ask for the Special Parking Facilities Department of the Wmo Department for more information.
Report a move
You are moving within Zoetermeer
Whether you get a parking space (again) depends on the possibility of parking at your new home. The municipality investigates this first. Make your request via:

Canceling Parking
When not using
Do you no longer need the parking space or are you moving? Then you can cancel it yourself. To do so, fill out the form: Cancel help or tool or send an e-mail to:

In the event of death
If a user of a handicapped parking space dies, there is no longer a right to use the parking space. The next of kin will receive a letter regarding the removal of the parking space.

You will pay fees for the examination, administration and parking.

Combination parking space and disabled parking permit
If you combine the application for handicapped parking with an application for a handicapped parking permit, you will be asked to pay the cost of the permit in advance. After that, your application will be processed. If you receive a positive decision for a parking space, it will be constructed after you have paid all the fees for constructing the parking space.
Special assistance
You can apply for special assistance for the cost of a special parking facility if you:
- Having a minimum income.
- Have an indication for individual transportation. This means that due to medical conditions you cannot use other transportation facilities such as Regiotaxi or an individual cab, but are forced to use your own transportation.
How long will it take?
The municipality will make a decision on whether or not to construct a parking space within 8 weeks of payment of the fee .
Is your application approved? Then it will be published first. Neighbors then have 6 weeks to object.
Is there no objection? If so, it will take several more weeks before the parking lot is constructed.
