Heart of Meerzicht

Het Hart van Meerzicht is the name of the community centre of Meerzicht and refers to its central location in the district. There are many vacant buildings in the shopping centre, the interior and appearance are very outdated, the public space around it is not attractive and the number of visitors is declining. The area is due for a major makeover. The makeover is an important part of the plan Meer voor Meerzicht and helps to improve the district.

Project 1 - Redevelopment of the Herenwaard office building

Within the Heart of Meerzicht there are several market parties that see possibilities for a major change of their properties and buildings. The municipality is only responsible for the public space. The area is being developed in stages.

The office building on the Herenwaard is the first step in the development. Owners have developed a plan. The neighbourhood has been invited to discuss this and ideas are being collected. This is the start of a participation process. The municipality will discuss the approach to the public space with local residents at a later time.

A 1st information meeting was organized with local residents on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The report can be found at meervoormeerzicht.nl | Hart van Meerzicht. On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the owners will organize a 2nd information meeting to inform local residents about the final design, construction and demolition activities and planning. Local residents will also be informed about the plans for the renovation of the shopping center by owner Portico.
