Come join us for Veterans' Day in Zoetermeer on June 27
Zoetermeer, June 17, 2026 – Roaring military vehicles, music from days gone by, inspiring stories, and a special tribute to our veterans. Zoetermeer Veterans Day will take place on Saturday, June 27, at the Markt. Everyone is warmly invited to join us for this special day.
A Tribute to Our Veterans
On Veterans Day, Zoetermeer thanks its veterans for their dedication to peace, freedom, and security. Veterans are current and former military personnel who have served on behalf of the Kingdom of the Netherlands during wartime or on peacekeeping missions. Through Veterans Day, the municipality expresses its appreciation for this dedication and reflects on the significance of freedom and security—things that cannot be taken for granted.
Since 2005, Zoetermeer has been organizing an annual gathering for its veterans. This has since become a tradition in which veterans, their families, and residents come together to socialize, be recognized, and share experiences.
Activities on the Market Square
Starting at 5:00 p.m., the Market Square will be bustling with activity. At the information and experience fair, visitors can learn about organizations dedicated to veterans, the military, and national security. There will also be food trucks, a bar, street theater by Greg & Baud, and performances by The Forces Sweethearts.
The official opening will take place at 6:00 p.m. with a skydiving demonstration and the raising of the veterans’ flag by Mayor Michel Bezuijen and Junior Mayor Sarah van den Berg.
A tank demonstration will begin at 6:45 p.m. Around 7:30 p.m., the parade of historic and modern military vehicles will arrive at the Markt. After the parade arrives, Mayor Bezuijen will give a speech, and the children’s mayor will open the static display. Visitors can then view the vehicles up close and talk with veterans and drivers.
