Royal Honor for Maarten Voskamp of the Zoetermeer Rescue Brigade
For his exceptional and long-standing dedication to the Zoetermeer Rescue Brigade, Mr. Maarten Voskamp received a royal honor on Saturday, September 26. During a gathering of the rescue brigade, Mayor Michel Bezuijen appointed him a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
45 Years as a Volunteer
Voskamp has been a volunteer with the Zoetermeer Rescue Brigade for 45 years and has held a variety of positions, including board member, committee member, station commander, and instructor. He is known as a dedicated community leader who is always ready to help and pass on his knowledge to new generations of members.
National Rescue Fleet
Mr. Voskamp is involved in monitoring the recreational area Noord Aa and is also a member of the National Rescue Fleet, which is deployed during floods and other water-related disasters. For example, in 2021, he provided assistance during the floods in Limburg.
"Helping others and bringing people together are the common threads running through Maarten Voskamp’s life. For 45 years, he has devoted himself heart and soul to the Zoetermeer Rescue Brigade and to the safety of others. This royal honor is a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional dedication," said Mayor Michel Bezuijen.
