Rules for parking bicycles

City Center

The City Center is subject to a ban on bicycles and parking at certain times. This is indicated with signs. In some places (see map) parking is prohibited 24 hours a day. The ban has been instituted to prevent nuisance, damage and a messy appearance of the Stadshart.

No bicycles or mopeds may be parked in the Stadshart between 11 am and 5 pm. This applies throughout the week. On Friday evenings between 19.00 and 21.00 no bicycles or mopeds may be parked.

A 24-hour parking ban applies to the frontage of City Hall on the Market side from the tower entrance, Market 2. The ban also applies to the Centrum West bus station, the bicycle bridge at Centrum West, the Mandela Bridge including the forecourts on the north and south sides of the Mandela Bridge. The parking ban will be indicated by signs.

Enforcement of parking ban

If you park your (moped) bike where it is not allowed, you risk a fine and your (moped) bike may be removed. This also applies to bicycles parked on the sidewalk or attached to a lamppost. The municipality's Enforcement Team will call you to account and may eventually remove illegally parked bicycles or bicycle wrecks. The municipality can also remove bicycles parked in one place for a long time.

In Zoetermeer it is not allowed to leave bicycles, e-bikes, scooters and/or mopeds in the same place for longer than 21 days. Team Enforcement of the municipality can remove this bicycle and transfer it to the bicycle depot.

Bicycle depot

Improperly parked bikes or bikes left in the same spot for a long time will be labeled. If the owner does not remove the bicycle in time, these bicycles are taken to the bicycle depot at Argonstraat 45 (Waste Collection). The bikes can be picked up there for a fee. You can check whether your bicycle has been removed and transferred to the bicycle depot at www.verlorenofgevonden.nl.
