Rules for parking bicycles
City center
In the City Center, there is a ban on cycling and parking at certain times. This is indicated by signs. In some areas, there is a 24-hour parking ban. The ban is in place to prevent disturbances, damage, and a cluttered appearance in the City Center.
No bicycles or mopeds may be parked in the Stadshart between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. This rule applies all week. On Friday evenings, bicycles and mopeds may also not be parked there between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
A 24-hour parking ban applies to the facade of the City Hall on the Market side from the entrance of the tower, Markt 2. The ban also applies to the Centrum West bus station, the bicycle bridge at Centrum West, the Mandela Bridge and the forecourts on the north and south sides of the Mandela Bridge. The parking ban is indicated by signs.
Enforcement of parking ban
If you park your (moped) bicycle in a place where it is not allowed, you risk a fine and your (moped) bicycle can be removed. This also applies to bicycles that are placed on the pavement or secured to a lamppost. The municipality's Enforcement Team will speak to you about this and can ultimately remove incorrectly parked bicycles or bicycle wrecks. The municipality can also remove bicycles that have been parked in one place for a long time.
In Zoetermeer it is not allowed to leave bicycles, e-bikes, scooters and/or mopeds in the same place for more than 21 days. The municipality's Enforcement Team can remove this bike and take it to the bicycle depot.
Bicycle depot
Bicycles that are parked illegally or left in the same spot for a long time will be tagged. If the owner does not remove the bicycle in time, these bicycles will be taken to the bicycle impound lot at 45 Argonstraat (Waste Collection). The bicycles can be retrieved there for a fee. In Zoetermeer there are rules to deal with the outdoor spaces in a good way to be able to live pleasantly in the city. These rules are in the General Local Regulation (APV) . The rules for parking bicycles also fall under this. In a number of areas in Zoetermeer, such as the Stadshart, there is a ban on bicycle parking. You are not allowed to park or temporarily leave your bicycle anywhere in this area. You can use the bicycle racks and free (guarded) parking facilities at the edges of the area.
