New construction of Van Aalst Park
Housing corporation De Goede Woning wants to build a new apartment building in the Van Aalstpark. Before the municipality decides whether the building can go there, the municipality wants to know from you what you think of the plan. On this page we will keep you informed of developments.
Why a new apartment building?
The Jacob du Meeflat is in need of renovation. De Goede Woning will have to refurbish the building in a few years or demolish and rebuild. Refurbishing the building when the tenants are living there will cause a lot of inconvenience for a long time. De Goede Woning proposes to build a new apartment building of about 140 social housing units next to the Jacob du Meeflat in Van Aalstpark. The tenants of the Jacob du Meeflat can then move to the new building and continue to live in the neighborhood. By building new housing, De Goede Woning also wants to contribute to reducing the housing shortage.
Van Aalst Park
With the construction of a new apartment building, the municipality sees opportunities to spruce up Van Aalst Park. The municipality also has ideas for a bike path through Van Aalst Park.
What does the neighborhood think?
Before deciding whether or not the building can go there, the municipality first spoke to residents, neighbors and interested parties at an information meeting on Feb. 21, 2023. The mood report of the meeting can be found at the bottom of this page. In addition, from February 22 to March 7, 2023, interested parties could contribute ideas about the possible new construction in the Van Aalstpark via DoeMee Zoetermeer | Nieuwbouw Van Aalstpark. The plan of De Goede Woning can also be found on this website. The response period has now expired.
Final report participation
The municipality responded to the responses received in a final participation report. The Municipal Executive has adopted the report. You can find the final report at the bottom of this page. The adoption of the final report concludes the participation process of the first of the feasibility study.
How to proceed?
The results of the participation process, including the concerns and wishes of the surrounding area, are reason to take time together with De Goede Woning to decide what the follow-up process should look like. The municipality will use this time to, among other things, draw up an overview of wishes and ideas for the area around the Van Aalst Park. For De Goede Woning, they are currently having research conducted into the condition of the current flat. This study will serve as a basis for the choice of renovation or demolition with new construction.
In the second half of 2023, the College of Mayor and Aldermen will decide on the continuation of the feasibility study. If the college decides to continue the feasibility study then research will be conducted to fill in the financial, legal and environmental feasibility of De Goede Woning's plan for new construction in Van Aalst Park.
