Residential building Zalkerbos 1
Developer Chronos Vastgoed will build housing on the car dealership site on Zalkerbos 1. The 'Ikaros' plan includes a 10-story building with 46 owner-occupied apartments for small/young families, empty nesters and the elderly. Construction of Ikaros will start at the end of 2022.
Zalkerbos 1 is one of 14 sites in Zoetermeer identified by the City Council in 2018 for an early start of housing construction to meet the high demand for housing in our city.
The environmental permit for the construction of the apartment complex was granted in December 2021. The amended zoning plan became irrevocable in January 2022.
Demolition of the existing car showroom is expected to begin in September 2022. Construction of "Ikaros" is scheduled from November 2022 to completion in March 2025.
Participation (dialogue)
In late 2018, Chronos Realty, on its own initiative, informed the immediate neighbors about their plans. The next step was to involve all local residents in this development. A walk-in meeting was held on January 24, 2019. An assembly report was made of the comments submitted. The College of Mayor and Aldermen approved the conciliation report on March 5, 2019.
