Late November/early December temporary reduced service at front desks

From Friday, November 28 to Monday, December 1, we are working on a new system for our basic registration of persons. During this period you cannot make an appointment for many products. Both requesting and picking up almost all products and (travel) documents is not possible then.

Emergency applications

  • Emergency applications made on Nov. 24, 25 or 26 before 2 p.m. can be picked up through Nov. 27.
  • Is that not possible? Then you can pick up the document starting Tuesday, Dec. 2.
  • Rush applications made after 2 p.m. on Nov. 26 or on Nov. 27 can be picked up on Dec. 2.

Online driver's license

You cannot pick up a driver's license applied for online through the RDW from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.

The municipality's civil registry creates and preserves official documents (deeds) of important events:

  • birth
  • marriage
  • registered partnership
  • divorce (apply for divorce in the municipality where you were married)
  • death

You request a copy of a deed from the municipality where the event took place. Do you need an international deed? You can indicate this in the application. 

Examples:

  1. You live in Zoetermeer > your child was born in Leiden > you must then request the birth certificate from the municipality of Leiden.
  2. You live in Zoetermeer > you are divorced > you are married in The Hague > you must then request the divorce certificate in the municipality of The Hague.

Attention! There is a difference between an extract (transcript) of civil status and an extract BRP (Basic Registration of Persons). Ask the requesting authority in advance which document you need.

An extract from BRP (Basic Registration of Persons).

  • Contains personal data such as name, address, place of residence.
  • Apply in the municipality where you live.
  • Also called "extract of population register."
  • Is requested, for example, by a housing association.

Who can request a extract?

  • yourself
  • an authorized representative 

For example, the request must concern yourself, your partner, your children or your parents.

Authorize someone

  • The authorized representative must be of age.
  • In a written statement, you must state the reason for the request.
  • With an authorization, only a transcript can be picked up. You must make an appointment for this (see "Appointment").

Extract of parental authority

Do you need an extract showing parental authority? You can request this extract from the Register of Custody.

Need an extract for travel with children?

Do you need the extract for travel with minor children? Sometimes an international BRP extract is also requested. This extract cannot be obtained through the Family Register, but must be requested from the municipality (call 14 079). You have to add the international extract to the permission form for traveling with minors.

Need marriage certificate?

You can request a marriage certificate immediately after marriage.

You request the extract online after which you will receive the extract by mail. You will not receive it digitally. You can have the certificate delivered to another address, even abroad. You can indicate this on the form.

Do you need an international deed? You can indicate this in the application.

Written request

  • Send your application with a copy of your ID by mail to the civil registry office.

Change or delete appointment?

Once you have made an appointment you will receive a confirmation e-mail. This e-mail also contains a link that allows you to change or delete your appointment.

Do you no longer have the e-mail? Call 14 079. A staff member can change or delete the appointment for you.

What you need to bring

Apply online

  • With DigiD or eIDAS username and password.
  • For payment: your internet banking login information.

Written request

  • You can address the application with a copy of your identification document to the civil registry of the municipality where the deed was created.

Personal request

  • A valid ID
  • A debit card

Authorize

  • A valid ID of the authorized representative.
  • A valid (copy) ID of the person giving the authorization.
  • A statement stating the reason for the request and authorizing the authorized person to request a copy of the civil record. This statement must be signed by the applicant.
  • A debit card.

Costs

You pay the fee when you request the transcript. At the front desk, you can only pay by debit or credit card.

How long will it take?
