Bulky waste

Bulky waste is waste that is too big or too heavy for the regular garbage bin, such as furniture, large toys, bicycles and bed coils. But electrical appliances, garden tiles, mattresses and small chemical waste also belong to bulky waste. Construction material does not fall under bulky waste.

You bring bulky waste to the Self-help Depot. Here you can separate it properly so that it can be recycled. If you are unable to take your bulky waste away yourself, you can also have some of it collected. You must make an appointment for this. Bulky waste that is collected goes into a compactor truck and unfortunately cannot be recycled.

Bulky waste disposal

You can bring bulky waste to the Self-haulage depot Argonstraat (Lansinghage industrial area). Follow the signs to the Zelfbrengdepot for the correct driving route.

Keep in mind the following rules:

  • Look at the bottom of this page to see what bulky waste you may take away.
  • Take your waste disposal pass with you. Only this will give you access to the Self-Disposal Depot.
  • You may dispose of a maximum of 2m³ of bulky waste per day.
  • The Self Delivery Depot is for Zoetermeer residents only.
  • Commercial waste is not accepted.
  • You dispose of your waste yourself. Our employees are not allowed to help you do that.
  • The Self-Depository has camera surveillance for your and our safety.

You will first pass small chemical waste, white and brown goods and containers for textiles, glass, PBD and cardboard and paper at the depot. If you put the bulky waste in your car, make sure you can grab it first.

Bulky waste collection

Would you like to have bulky waste picked up? Then keep in mind the rules below and make an appointment. There is no charge for the collection of bulky waste, unless you wish to do so outside the free route. In that case, you pay €50.38 per 2m³.

Bulky waste collection appointment

  • Check the bottom of this page to see what bulky waste you can have picked up.
  • Make an appointment well in advance, as the free route fills up quickly.
  • You may have a maximum of 2m³ of bulky waste collected at a time.
  • The bulky waste must be no more than 1.50 meters long and 30 kilograms in weight.
  • Please put the bulky waste at the presentation site before 7:30 a.m. Due to litter and pests, you should not put out the bulky waste the night before.
  • Metal items, white and brown goods (such as televisions, computers and refrigerators) are picked up with a different car. Please separate this from other bulky waste.
  • Do not put bulky waste in boxes or plastic bags.
  • Tie objects up to 1.50 meters together in bundles.
  • Cut carpet into pieces and bundle it.
  • Adding your bulky waste to someone else's bulky waste is not allowed. It is important that you always make an appointment for your bulky waste yourself.

For urgent matters, such as emptying a house* after a death, you can make an expedited appointment for bulky waste collection. You can contact Customer Service Waste Collection from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 15:45. You can do this by telephone via 14 079 (choose option 2). An appointment will then be made with you immediately. In this case, you may have more than 2m³ of bulky waste collected, but it must be offered via the above rules.

* This does not apply to emptying a room in a nursing home or similar institution. Please contact the relevant institution for this.

Reuse and repair

Did you know that there are quite a few thrift stores, a toy bank and a clothing bank in Zoetermeer? If you have stuff that someone else can still use, bring it here. Also, appliances that are broken can often be repaired. With a broken kettle, sewing machine or vacuum cleaner, you can drop by the Repair café. There, if possible, your appliance will be repaired free of charge.

Bulky waste search

Searching through and/or taking bulky garbage left at the road is not permitted. You may be fined for this.

Bulky waste you can take away

If you bring bulky waste to the Self-Delivery Depot, it may be longer than 1.50 meters and heavier than 30 kilos. It is important that you can throw the waste into the containers yourself. Our employees are not allowed to help you with this. Please come in pairs when disposing of heavy items.
