The water is clean again

Tests show that the quality of the surface water around Van Tuyll Park once again meets the standards. The advisory to avoid contact with the water has therefore been lifted.

Cause of the pollution identified

In early September, contaminated sewage entered ditches and ponds. An investigation revealed that an as-yet-unknown overflow activated during sewer work. As a result, contaminated sewage entered surface waters.

The municipality of Zoetermeer and the Schieland and Krimpenerwaard Water Board have taken measures to prevent further pollution. The water system has also been flushed, and water quality has been subject to additional monitoring.
