Aftercare for (former) inmates

When you leave prison, a new chapter in your life begins. The Zoetermeer Aftercare Program for (Former) Inmates helps (former) inmates build a stable life. We do this in collaboration with various partners in the city.

Have you just been released from prison? If so, you can receive support in various areas of life, such as:

  • Housing.
  • Income.
  • Debt and financial assistance.
  • Care and support.
  • Day care.

How does it work?

As soon as we receive notification of your detention, we will contact you. This often happens while you are still in prison. Together, we will discuss your situation and determine what kind of support you need.

Our services are intended for current and former inmates who return to the municipality of Zoetermeer after serving their sentences.

Even if you were incarcerated abroad, you can contact the Zoetermeer Aftercare Program for (Former) Inmates. We strive to provide appropriate support upon your return.
 

What does the Reintegration Officer (RIO) do?

The Reintegration Officer (RIO) plays a key role in the aftercare of (former) inmates. The RIO works with various partners to ensure a safe return to society.

The RIO primarily focuses on individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who have been involved in high-impact crime, such as:

  • Violent crimes.
  • Robberies.
  • Serious financial crime.

These crimes often have a significant impact on victims and society. At the same time, we understand that returning to daily life after incarceration can be a challenge. That is why we offer personalized and intensive support, so that you can work toward a fresh start, one step at a time. 

The Reintegration Officer (RIO) will work with you to develop a reintegration plan tailored to your situation and goals. The RIO will also stay in touch with relevant agencies to ensure you receive the right support at the right time. Together, we’ll ensure a safe and hopeful return to society.
