Use of public space

Notification or environmental permit?

Do you want to temporarily place something on or near the road? For example, a:

  • container
  • scaffold
  • (construction) shed
  • mobile crane
  • AWP
  • construction materials (storage)

If so, you may need to report it to the municipality. You may also need an Environmental Permit or Public Space Use Permit.

Do you want to place flower boxes, advertisements or awnings outside? You may, but you must comply with the General Rules. See also: article 2:5 of the General Local Bye-Law (APV).

Displays in city center prohibited

In the City Quarter, the placement of displays is prohibited. A display is a loose element placed in front of a building in the public space and to draw attention to a store or business located in that building. See also: article 2:5a of the General Local Bye-Law (APV).
